Entering an evolution of becoming a full edged young lady, Sarah once again presents the public with another turnaround and refreshing sounds surmounting into the limelight.
Just Me…is Sarah Geronimo’s latest and 5th studio album backed by award-winning international producer Christian de Walden who also realized a dream come true idea of having Backstreet Boy’s Howie Dorough’s appearance.
The album is packed with 16 tracks of pop, R&B and ballads that has an international sound flavour which is not appreciated well in Sarah’s previous recordings. This album is one that could probably sell across the seas so to say. Sarah had definitely crossed over from being that young star belter tagged as the Philippines’ Pop Princess to being the country’s Pop Superstar as she comes up with more heart and soul in every song she sang in this album. Yes, indeed this album has love and romance as the main meat, typical, but refreshing because it’s Sarah this time.
And as we listen to each track, here’s my penny worth pieces of review for selected tracks:
I’ll Be There – a savvy duet with Howie, entertaining and obsessively compulsive as you listen along the way, you’ll find yourself singing with it.
You’re The Love of My Life – a mild ballad classic, though Sarah could have go beyond by belting out the focal part of the song, the mid-tone to low and melodic interpretation gives more depth.
Dahil Minahal Mo Ako – certainly a catchy piece that do not sound jukebox but definitively ballad in terms. Sarah had ditched another perfect emotion to give an elevated stance of the song.
Where Only Angels Fly – probably the most loved in this album, gripping and full of emotions, with the perfect ramp of harmonious stretch all throughout, a certified heartwarming song one could offer to a great love.
One Little Kiss – romantic and enchanting, wholesomely for the sweet young charmers.
I Belong To You – an enthralling soul sound, never heard in any of Sarah’s previous albums, enchanting rhythm perfect for souls in love.
Just Me – performing to the hype that she had perfected over time, the song proves and made Sarah own the other side of her versatility.
Look Inside Ourselves – melancholic and hypnotic.
Played – another fantastic pop, addictive and resounding.
Sweet Memories – listening to sweet memories feels like I’m watching a Julia Roberts movie. Sarah could make another movie with this in the soundtrack as the sweet harmony and words are just perfect.
I Am Falling –a cool song that surely won’t make a heart freeze, but rather makes falling in love like a melting ice.
What Have You Done To My Heart – a pretty melodic, wavy, and pop jazz interpretation perfect to feed that crazy wondering heart.
Remind Me to Forget You – everywhere you run to, this unforgettable upbeat ballad gives a last song syndrome.
Movie Love – sounding like the monumental classical swing in the likes of Abba, SOS, or Earth Wind and Fire, it certainly has that upbeat sense of international pop, bearing out Sarah’s definite versatility.
